On July 2, 2026, Microsoft announced the creation of a new organization, "Microsoft Frontier Co.," committing roughly 6,000 employees and $2.5 billion to help enterprise customers with the technical and strategic work of deploying AI. According to CNBC, the new subsidiary consolidates existing Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs), technical consultants, support staff and salespeople with industry expertise, and is led by Rodrigo Kede Lima, the former president of Microsoft Asia.
