EU to Require AI Driver-Monitoring Cameras in New Cars from July 2026

Starting July 7, 2026, the EU will require all newly registered vehicles in the bloc to include an AI-based Advanced Driver Distraction Warning (ADDW) system. A driver-facing camera will detect gaze direction, head movement, blinking and yawning to issue real-time alerts for distraction and drowsiness.
