China to Grant Alibaba, ByteDance, DeepSeek Limited Nvidia H200 Buys

China's government is preparing to allow Alibaba, ByteDance and DeepSeek to purchase limited quantities of Nvidia's advanced H200 GPU, according to reports around July 8, 2026. Two people familiar with the matter say authorities have already notified the firms that purchases will be permitted soon, with total approvals capped at fewer than 200,000 chips. That is less than half of what the companies originally requested, and use is restricted to AI model training. Nvidia has reportedly already secured the necessary export licenses from the U.S. government (Yahoo Finance, AI Weekly).
