Athena-Public, an Open-Source Tool for Portable AI Memory, Aims to Free Memory From ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini

A newly surfaced open-source project called Athena-Public proposes moving an AI assistant's memory out of proprietary platforms and onto a user's local machine, so that a persistent set of facts, rules and context can follow a person across ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini rather than living inside any single provider. The project, published on GitHub by developer Winston Koh, reframes the large language model as a swappable "engine" while treating the memory, structure and governance layer as a portable chassis that stays with the user.
