The rapid buildout of AI data centers is pushing up wholesale electricity prices across the United States and feeding through to household bills, according to multiple analyses of grid and market data. In areas near clusters of data centers, wholesale power prices have climbed by as much as 267% compared with five years ago, a Bloomberg analysis found, drawing on Grid Status and DC Byte data.
