Moonshot AI released Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter, natively multimodal flagship model with a 1-million-token context window, on July 16, 2026, positioning it as a frontier system for long-horizon agentic coding, knowledge work and reasoning. The Beijing-based company describes K3 as one of the first open large models in the roughly three-trillion-parameter class, and it became available on day one across the third-party AI/ML API platform alongside Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 under a single API key.
