Office-space searches by AI-focused tech firms are surging, and demand looks set to spread beyond New York and San Francisco, the cities that have dominated the trend so far. According to VTS, a commercial real estate data provider, the number of building tours by prospective AI tenants rose 85% year-over-year in the 12 months from June 2025 to May 2026. Such activity has been concentrated in California's Silicon Valley, San Francisco and New York, where tour growth ran at more than twice the national average, but it is now expected to ripple out to other, secondary cities.
