Anthropic said on June 12, 2026 that it had immediately disabled access to its newest models, Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5, for all customers including US citizens, in order to comply with a US government export control directive. The directive requires that access be cut off for all users including foreign nationals and Anthropic's own foreign employees, and the company said it had to disable the models for everyone to ensure compliance.
