SpaceXAI (formerly xAI) and Meta have rolled out low-cost APIs for top-tier AI models one after another, putting pricing pressure on OpenAI and Anthropic, which have maintained high margins in the premium tier. At the center is the pricing for Grok-4.5 offered by SpaceXAI: $2.00 per 1M input tokens and $6.00 per 1M output tokens, with a 500k-token context window and cached input at $0.50. It also includes batch API discounts (20% off on some models) and tool-call charges such as web_search at $5 per 1,000 calls.
