OpenAI said it will discontinue ChatGPT Atlas, the AI-integrated browser it released for macOS in October 2025, as a standalone desktop browser. The wind-down begins around August 9, 2026, with its features moving into the ChatGPT desktop app and a Google Chrome extension. The retreat comes roughly nine months after launch.
