Japan's Defense Ministry has decided to introduce artificial intelligence into the Self-Defense Forces' command-and-control (C2) systems, marking the first time AI would be embedded at the core of the country's military decision-making. According to multiple government officials, the ministry is examining the adoption of Palantir Technologies' military AI platform, the Maven Smart System, to support the judgment of commanders while simultaneously exploring the development of a homegrown alternative.
