xAI's Grok Build CLI was silently uploading users' entire Git repositories—complete with full commit history and unredacted secrets such as API keys and database passwords—to a Google Cloud Storage bucket by default, according to a wire-level technical analysis that has alarmed developers. The uploads have since stopped through a hidden server-side flag, but xAI has yet to publicly detail the scope, retention, or deletion of the data it collected.
