On June 25, 2026, California unveiled the California AI-Unemployment Tracker (CAIT), the first US public dashboard to monitor the labor-market impact of AI on a monthly, near-real-time basis. Stemming from Governor Gavin Newsom's executive order on AI and the workforce, the tool was jointly developed by the state's Employment Development Department (EDD) and the UCLA-based California Policy Lab (CPL).
