A new protocol called Agent-Native Research Artifact (ARA), which replaces research papers with machine-executable knowledge packages, has been released alongside an open-source agent skill bundle. Provided by ARA-Labs, it is published on GitHub under the MIT license. The underlying paper, "The Last Human-Written Paper: Agent-Native Research Artifacts," authored by researchers from institutions including Stanford, University of Michigan, Meta, and NVIDIA, was first submitted to arXiv on April 27, 2026, with a v3 released in May.
