Google now offers a way to run summarization, translation and structured output directly on the device through AI APIs built into Chrome, with no data sent to a server. Integrating AI into web apps has typically relied on server-side inference and constant network availability, adding latency, data round-trips and privacy concerns. Chrome's Built-in AI APIs address this by embedding the lightweight on-device model Gemini Nano into the browser and running inference locally with hardware acceleration.
