On July 9, 2026, Google announced that users of Search, YouTube and Discover will be able to check whether an ad was made with generative AI. By opening the "How this ad was made" panel from an ad's three-dot menu, users can see whether generative AI was used to create or edit it. Ads produced with Google's own AI tools are labeled automatically, while advertisers can manually label material made with third-party AI tools.
