On June 16, 2026, SpaceX said it had exercised an option to acquire Anysphere, Inc., the company behind AI code editor Cursor, in an all-stock transaction valued at roughly $6 billion, with the stated goal of building "the world's most useful AI models." Over the past several months, SpaceXAI, tied to xAI, and Cursor have jointly trained a model whose results will soon be released in both Cursor and Grok Build. According to one report, the deal is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026. Another report likewise confirms the all-stock structure.
