China publicly dismissed allegations that its artificial-intelligence companies illicitly harvest results from leading American models, pushing back after Anthropic and other U.S. firms accused Chinese rivals of using a technique known as distillation to close the technology gap. Speaking at the World AI Conference in Shanghai, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Liu Bin said some countries are "exaggerating" distillation, calling it a misguided and counterproductive line of argument, according to Bloomberg. He did not name the United States directly.
