Hany Farid (60), a UC Berkeley professor regarded as a leading figure in digital forensics, has said the increasing sophistication of AI-generated content has left him unable to trust his own eyes, warning that within a few years the human visual system could become "utterly useless." The remarks were reported in an interview piece by Eli Saslow published by The New York Times on June 14, titled In Age of AI, World's Leading Deepfake Expert No Longer Trusts His Own Eyes, based on Farid's own statements.
