US Commerce Dept Orders Anthropic to Cut Foreign Access to Fable 5

On June 12, 2026, the US Commerce Department ordered Anthropic to halt access to its "Fable 5" and "Mythos 5" AI models for all foreign nationals, both inside and outside the United States. Unable to distinguish users by nationality on technical grounds, Anthropic immediately disabled both models for every user worldwide.
