The opportunity

Cheap energy positions Kazakhstan as a regional AI infrastructure hub. Initial facilities are expected online around 2027, with parallel talks underway with Microsoft, OpenAI, G42 and Mubadala.

The caution

Investors flag geopolitical and sanctions-related exposure and the capital intensity of large AI bets in emerging markets. Given how recent the deal is, real-world operational assessment remains for the future.
