US Loosens Export Curbs on AI Chips, Military Goods for UAE

The US Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) announced on July 10, 2026, that it will reclassify the UAE into the favorable A:5 group under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and substantially ease export controls on advanced AI chips, certain military items, commercial satellites and drone-related technology. The UAE has been removed from Country Groups D:3 and D:4, and approved government agencies and commercial entities will be able to receive a wide range of items without a license under the License Exception Strategic Trade Authorization (STA) for export, re-export and in-country transfer.
