A Year After Building Claude Code, Its Creator Says the Job of Coding Has Transformed

Boris Cherny, the Anthropic engineer who created Claude Code, says his own profession has changed fundamentally in the year since he built the tool, according to a Bloomberg feature published July 16, 2026. Rather than writing code line by line, Cherny now describes his workflow as issuing instructions in plain English to multiple Claude instances running in parallel, delegating tasks such as editing files, translating between programming languages and fixing bugs.
