Meta is planning a cloud business to sell surplus capacity from its own AI infrastructure to outside customers, according to reports on July 1, 2026. The move follows xAI, a SpaceX affiliate, in leasing spare compute to other companies, and if realized could put Meta in direct competition with established cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure.
