Nobel Economist Says AI Won't Revive Era of Fast Growth

Christopher Pissarides, the LSE professor who won the 2010 Nobel Prize in economics, has argued that AI will not return Western economies to the era of rapid productivity growth, which he says may be gone forever. An expert on labor markets and automation, Pissarides estimates that up to 40% of jobs in the US and UK will be little affected by AI, citing person-facing work such as nursing and hospitality.
