Hugging Face has confirmed that attackers penetrated part of its production infrastructure using an autonomous AI agent system, compromising a limited set of internal datasets and several credentials used by its services. The AI platform disclosed the incident in a July 16, 2026 post detailing an intrusion it says was executed end-to-end by an agentic attacker rather than a human operator working keystroke by keystroke.
