US Lifts Export Curbs on Anthropic's Fable 5, Mythos 5; Access to Return

The US Department of Commerce lifted export controls on Anthropic's frontier models Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 on July 1, and Anthropic said it will begin restoring access to both models on July 2. The move ends a roughly three-week suspension. According to Anthropic's announcement, the company received notice from the Department of Commerce lifting the export controls. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said in a statement that, working with Anthropic, the government had "ensured the integrity of Fable 5." Reporting indicates the restoration will roll out globally in phases.
