The European Commission plans to formally propose within July 2026 a common EU sustainability rating scheme that assesses the energy and water efficiency of data centers and assigns them an electronic A–G label. With rapid expansion driven by AI and cloud demand straining power grids and the environment, the aim is to boost transparency and encourage energy and resource efficiency, Bloomberg reported.
