OpenAI's debut consumer hardware product will be a movable, screen-free smart speaker designed to act as a humanlike "AI companion," according to a Bloomberg report published July 14, 2026. The device, still unannounced and in development, would sit at the center of a user's home, controlling smart-home appliances, playing media, answering questions, handling messaging and tapping the full range of ChatGPT's capabilities.
