OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman said the company may face temporary service disruptions as demand for its flagship GPT-5.6 Sol model outpaces the company's ability to scale up computing capacity. In a public message on July 14, 2026, Altman described the growth in usage of the model as "insane" and credited what he called "heroic work" by OpenAI's inference team to keep up, while cautioning that "it is possible there are some hiccups soon."
