OpenAI has entered the hardware business for the first time, releasing a compact $230 programmable macro pad called the Codex Micro that gives developers dedicated physical controls for its Codex AI coding agent. The device, formally designated kbd-1.0-codex-micro, went on sale July 15, 2026, through OpenAI Supply Co. in collaboration with peripheral maker Work Louder.
