Google Rebrands NotebookLM as Gemini Notebook, Adds In-Notebook Code Execution

Google is retiring the NotebookLM name and relaunching the research tool as Gemini Notebook, folding its popular note-taking and summarization product deeper into the Gemini brand while keeping it available as a standalone app. The change was announced on July 16, 2026, and comes alongside new capabilities including the ability for the assistant to write and run code directly inside a notebook.
