OpenAI has rolled out GPT-Live, a new generation of voice models for ChatGPT that replaces the earlier Advanced Voice Mode and aims to make spoken exchanges with the assistant feel closer to a natural human conversation. The company announced the update on July 8, 2026, shipping two versions across its iOS, Android and web apps: GPT-Live-1 as the default for paying users and a lighter GPT-Live-1 mini for the free tier.
