HURIDOCS, a nonprofit specializing in human-rights documentation technology, has released an open-source, Docker-powered microservice that segments PDFs into structured elements, runs OCR in more than 150 languages, and converts documents to Markdown or HTML with optional translation handled locally through Ollama. The project, pdf-document-layout-analysis, packages document parsing, reading-order detection and format conversion into a single deployable service that exposes both a Gradio web interface and a REST API.
