The US Commerce Department has lifted the export controls it had placed on Anthropic's "Claude Fable 5" and "Claude Mythos 5" AI models between late June and early July, and Anthropic says it will begin a conditional global restoration of both models starting July 2. The restoration comes with strings attached, including added safeguards and pre-deployment evaluations shared with the government.
