The Bank of England (BoE), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and HM Treasury issued a joint statement on 15 May 2026 warning that the rapid advance of frontier AI models is heightening cybersecurity and financial stability risks. The statement, "Frontier AI models and cyber resilience," warns that the cyber capabilities of such models are increasingly outpacing skilled practitioners in speed, scale and cost, and that malicious use could amplify those threats.
