Demand for software developers has climbed 14.6% in the months since Anthropic released its agentic coding tool Claude Code, even as overall job postings slipped 7%, according to an analysis published by venture firm a16z. The figures, drawn from Indeed Hiring Lab data, suggest that a wave of AI coding automation is coinciding with a rebound in hiring for the very roles many feared it would displace.
