US Commerce Dept Bars Foreign Access to Two Newest Anthropic AI Models

Citing national security, the US Commerce Department issued an export control directive to Anthropic on June 12, 2026, ordering a full halt to foreign nationals' access to its most advanced AI models, Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5. Anthropic, saying selective blocking was impractical, disabled both models for all users worldwide the same day.
