A private bond market in the US with more than a century of history is emerging as a new funding route for AI infrastructure investment estimated in the trillions of dollars. Tech companies are increasingly selling debt directly to institutional investors such as insurers, with data center operator IREN Ltd. issuing $2.1 billion in private placement notes.
