Japan Accelerates AI Cooperation Framework With France, India and Global South to Reduce US-China Dependence

Japan is moving quickly to build a web of artificial-intelligence partnerships with like-minded countries in Europe and the Global South, seeking to diversify supply chains and lessen its reliance on the United States and China. The centerpiece of the push is the first-ever Japan-France High-Level AI Dialogue, held in Paris on June 19, 2026, alongside a growing set of bilateral arrangements with the United Kingdom, India, Malaysia and Brazil.
