OpenAI's Economic Research team published a paper, "The Shift to Agentic AI: Evidence from Codex," on June 25, 2026, analyzing usage data from its agentic coding/work platform Codex. Drawing on large-scale real-world data, it documents a move from "chat"—getting answers in short conversations—to "delegation," handing entire long and complex tasks to AI.
