EU Orders Google to Open Android Features and Search Data to AI Rivals Under Digital Markets Act

The European Commission on July 16, 2026 ordered Google to grant rival artificial-intelligence assistants such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude "equal and effective access" to key Android features currently reserved for its own Gemini, and to share Google Search data with competing search engines and AI chatbots.
