An Anthropic engineer has noted that more than 80% of the code merged into the company's production codebase is now generated by Claude, particularly Claude Code, and that a developer's role is shifting from writing code to orchestrating agents. Inside the company, a message is circulating to the effect that "most software is written by agents" and that engineers should learn orchestration now before it is too late.
