OpenAI on July 8, 2026 introduced GPT-Live, a new generation of voice models built to power ChatGPT Voice, replacing the older turn-based system with a full-duplex design that lets the AI listen and speak at the same time. The company is rolling out two versions: GPT-Live-1 as the default for paid Go, Plus, and Pro subscribers, and GPT-Live-1 mini for free users, with global availability across iOS, Android, and ChatGPT.com.
