Around July 8, 2026, Google began a staged rollout of an "Import from GitHub" feature in Google AI Studio's Build mode, letting developers pull existing GitHub repositories directly into the tool. Imported repos are automatically converted into an AI Studio runtime-compatible format, after which users can keep iterating with Gemini through natural language (vibe coding), use live preview, and deploy to targets such as Cloud Run — all within the browser.
