Meta has removed a new feature that let anyone generate AI images from public Instagram posts, following a wave of user backlash. The feature was part of "Muse Image," an AI image generation tool the company rolled out around July 2026 that allowed third parties to reference and generate new images from public accounts' posts, Reels and profile pictures via tagging (BBC).
