Chinese startup Moonshot AI has released Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter model billed as the world's largest open-weight AI system, intensifying the competition between US and Chinese labs at the frontier of artificial intelligence. The model is natively multimodal, carries a 1-million-token context window, and is designed for long-horizon agentic coding, knowledge work, and deep reasoning. It is available now through Kimi.com, the Kimi app, Kimi Code, and the Kimi API, with a downloadable open-weight version and full technical details slated for release later in July.
