Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and South Korean Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back met in Seoul on the morning of June 28, 2026, and agreed to continue and strengthen defense cooperation in advanced science and technology fields including artificial intelligence (AI), unmanned systems and space. The two ministers confirmed they would continue and develop Japan-South Korea and Japan-U.S.-South Korea defense cooperation, and agreed to continue discussions between their authorities on these areas.
