Google Sues China-Based Network That Used Gemini to Build 9,000 Fake Sites
On June 12, 2026, Google filed a civil lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against "Outsider Enterprise," a China-based cybercrime network accused of abusing its generative AI model Gemini to mass-produce phishing sites. The company calls it its first lawsuit over abuse of Gemini and is seeking to dismantle the network's infrastructure and recover damages. According to the filing, the group had Gemini generate code for fake sites and distributed "phishing-as-a-service" kits via Telegram.
