The Trump administration is considering the creation of an independent, industry-participatory watchdog to review the safety of the most advanced AI models before they are deployed, modeled on the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), according to a Bloomberg report. The proposal would establish a self-regulatory framework for so-called frontier models and could be housed under the Securities and Exchange Commission.
